green yellow splotch Fight Against Counterfeiting

The Zao Wou-Ki Foundation is especially dedicated to the preservation of the reputation of Zao Wou-Ki and of the integrity of his work.

Zao Wou-Ki is acknowledged throughout the world as one of the greatest contemporary artists of Chinese origin.

Counterfeiting is a global threat that seriously impairs both the interests and the image of Zao Wou-Ki.

In this respect, the Foundation struggles daily against counterfeiters attempting to take over Zao Wou-Ki’s work by circulating forgeries in the art market, in the hope of deceiving collectors about their authenticity.

To date, the Foundation is the sole authority entitled to check the origin of the works that are attributed to Zao Wou-Ki and to certify their authenticity.

Anxious to protect the interests of the collectors having bought or willing to buy works by Zao Wou-Ki, the Foundation offers to certify the origin of any work attributed to Zao Wou-Ki that would be presented to it before an eventual sale or exhibition.

In its daily struggle against counterfeiting, the Foundation is accompanied by the French law firm FTPA, which features a broad and recognized expertise in the field of intellectual property.

Through its solid international legal network, consisting of correspondents in all countries of the world, FTPA is equipped with a high reactivity and response capacity.

The coordination of legal teams not only allows for the reduction of time to conduct the necessary investigations closer to the identified sources of counterfeit products, but also assists in the ability to take all appropriate measures to ensure the criminality of these illicit actions anywhere in the world.
